Mastering the art of yoga-Be Your Own yoga teacher

Wednesday, October 27, 2010, 13: 58Yoga info

First of all, keep it to yourself if you know your yoga practice. Think of yoga as an exploration. It is a place to cultivating consciousness, and that awareness of the self is your teacher in yoga. You can use the consciousness for the rest of your life, spread observe yourself in all situations as you do in the yoga practice. In the yoga class gives your teacher you points on alignment and moving your body in the poses. Bring what you remember what the teacher at what you pay attention to spend in yoga class.

Loving correct your posture, and by that I mean bring in more adjustment at the time that you do it. Awareness in the moment, right now, will you bring to the an orphan focus that Yoga cultivates. It's not about where you're going, or where you've been.It comes now. how feels the pose? How is the shape of the attitude to where you would like to be?

The comparison is allowed to use what your teacher has presented as an ideal, but the comparison between you and you really is. The goal is to provide the most current and know that you could possibly be in every moment of yoga practice. Now, which is also good goals for life. shows the moment you put in, the now more fully? Can you bring more awareness in the moment? Shows loving yourself and what you do?

There is a bit of a paradox in the yoga practice similar to meditation. you should come to practice without result or purpose in mind. The goal is the practice of doing and don't expect to get anywhere. It's more about allowing yourself time in your day to "be" instead of trying to get something done and, like many things in your task list. It is more in the experienced than the finish.

Sometimes you may need to structure for your practice. The trick is to roll out your mat, preferably the same time each day, and get to work. Even better, how about if you recall some poses you like before you begin?Do you know a few poses and enjoy from have done in the classroom or a yoga video. Once you are practicing, you will recall other poses. The first five minutes of each yoga practice is the most challenging, with the most difficult part of your yoga mat unrolling and stepping on it! In fact, comply with just doing this, there and see what happens. Another way to go is the use of a video or audio file practice of yoga during a practice guide. It helps to start with something that you know, or is your level of experience, and that interests you.

I have been practicing yoga for 30 years, and still have a hard time doing the first step every day. I really like Shiva Rea of audio CDs such as yoga Sanctuary.which has several tracks for practicing a stream of yoga postures. There are days when I feel less energetic, so I'm going for more relaxing yoga tracks such as those on the Moon yoga CD. On more energetic days, will I Solar Yoga, the other CD in this set. I may be interested in backbends, forward bends or maybe a vinyasa series.I can choose the tracks and I want to end up with a number of a guided relaxation at the end. since I have a number of Shiva Rea CDs. Drops of nectar, more of a guided meditation and relaxation. Yoga Chant has some backbends that I love when I'm in the mood, and vinyasa Yoga Sanctuary gives me similar to what my yoga class. I think it is valuable to listen to a guided practice structure to give me at home.

Even though I am have the guidance of a teacher talk me through, I need to remember to listen to my own body do the pose.I have to respect my limitations at the same time as push myself so I intention, awareness and focus the attitude on am.Yoga is sometimes an effortless effort, the balance point of doing and not doing so.

How to find a good yoga teacher to yourself? in practice. In practice on a daily basis, even if it's a short practice. You should come from a yoga practice with a sense of something have learned with your body as a teacher and consciousness. sometimes, it will go to the body, and other times, it will be about life or your own life. are you likely to take advantage of the benefits of yoga the more regular you practice. two advantages that I love his better in my body feels and feeling more rest in my mind. Through the years, I’ve had a lot opportunity to work with people under stress and I’ve seen how important meditation is for staying balanced. If you have stress in your life, meditation can be an immense help to you.

In this Meditation Therapy tape I’ll share principles and techniques that can help you bring balance and peace back into your life. Stress training is common today; everyone from fortune 500 companies to the military recognizes how important it is to give people tools to deal with this potential killer. But, most stress training simply helps people relax. As important as this is, it is not enough because it works only with the conscious or subconscious mind. Meditation, however, enlists the superconsciousness, the infinite awareness at the core of our being. It is from this deep level that lasting changes come.

There are four section to this tape. First, I’ll help you better understand how to work with change and stress. The second section is a visualization. In the third section we’ll meditate. This is the most important part of this tape. When the mind is still, you get in touch with deeper levels of consciousness and gain new perspectives on your life. It is from these profound inner insights that real improvements come. After you’ve learned the basics of meditation, you will probably want to extend the time you sit in inner silence.

Unhealthy levels of stress usually come from trying to control the uncontrollable. The “fight or flight” response biologically programs us to respond to challenge with some level of stress. But, not all stress is unhealthy, and in fact, some degree of pressure is vital to our well-being. Without it we become bored and look for stimulation. We watch TV and movies, or play games, sports and engage in activities that have no purpose other to excite the mind. Recent studies show that stimulation for the brain is almost as important to our well-being as food and water. Entertainment moguls know that excitement can be like an drug and use it to hook us on their programs. The next time you watch a TV show or a movie, look for their deliberate attempts to shock you — loud music, sudden scene changes, and odd lighting effects. The nervous system gradually adapts to this kind of stimulation and begins to close down. Soon we feel the need to find more excitement.

In real life, however, we don’t have the same level of detachment as we do while being entertained. At work, or with our health, or finances, excessive change is threatening, and we experience stress. Chronic stress can cause serious health problems such as high blood pressure, elevated heart rate, and a weakening of the immune system. It even causes physical problems such as back pain.

Since the effects of stress begin in the mind, the same event will affect different people in completely unique ways, depending on how they REACT. But, you have a choice in how you respond to situations and herein lies your power. It has been well said that, “pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.” Most stress and pain comes from wishing that things were other than they are. Learn to flow with life and much of your stress will disappear.

Here is a challenge for you. Tonight, before you go to sleep, mentally review your day and try to see how often you wanted things to be different. Did you wish that you could have slept longer? That you didn’t have to do certain chores, that other drivers didn’t behave the way they did, that people at work were nicer? It goes on and on. The more you try to control the unchangeable, the more stress you create for yourself. What is the way out?

We must learn to be more accepting of life. Life is a school and we draw to ourselves the events, circumstances, and relationships we need to help us grow. Every problem gives us with two choices — to expand or contract our consciousness Do we become defensive and self-protective? Or do we see challenges as opportunities to become stronger, to learn and expand. If we contract our hearts, we experience pain, not because conditions have made us unhappy, but because pain is the inevitable result of excessive self-focus. Have no doubt about it, a contractive attitude will produce stress. On the other hand, when we relax and release unnecessary attachments we automatically experience happiness and fulfillment. Eventually, through meditation, we can discover an underlying joy that doesn’t change under any circumstance. And expansion of consciousness is the essence of spiritual growth.

To deal with stress successfully, we must learn relaxation and n on-attachment. Physical relaxation helps release muscular tension. With this in mind, I’ll be teaching you deep relaxation in a few minutes. Physical tension, through mind-body feedback, also adds to our mental tension, and the most dangerous tension is in the md To relax the mind we need to develop attitudes of acceptance and contentment.

Learn to accept that whatever comes to you is for your ultimate good. The truth is that we attract situations to help us learn needed lessons. Think, for a moment, about people and circumstances in your life that you are trying to push away. Mentally say, “I accept you exactly as you are.” Better yet, try to say, “I am grateful for you and for everything in my life.” This will create the mental space necessary to learn what life is trying to teach you. Once we have learned our lessons, we find that conditions change automatically. Acceptance is about learning to live with faith, not fear. It is understanding that we will attract to ourselves exactly what we need. The law of karma states that, good or bad, you will get exactly what is coming to you. Don’t dwell on past events and or future plans. If you stay in the here and now you will realize that you can be happy just as you are. One of the greatest sources of fulfillment is to accept yourself, with all your strengths and weakness. Then, don’t dwell on yourself, but think more of others and their needs.

I was once on a drive in the mountains with my teacher, Swami Kriyananda. During a blizzard our car went out of control and smashed into the side of a bus. Kriyananda calmly got out, walked around to the front of the bus and realized that it was headed to our destination. After arranging for our car to be towed, we climbed on to the bus. The passengers were sympathizing with us over our loss. Kriyananda said, “You know, in a week I would have gotten over any sense of loss and be perfectly happy. Why wait a week? I’m happy now!”

Acceptance might seem like a somewhat passive state. A little like, “Well, even if this is awful, there’s nothing I can do about it I might as well accept it.” But, we can develop a higher more active state of acceptance. The great yogi Paramhansa Yogananda said we should train our minds to be “even-minded and cheerful in all situations.” This is not merely a nice maxim, but a powerful, life-changing technique. How do we achieve this state of mind? Commit yourself to being happy under all circumstances. Then watch your reactions to events. As soon as you catch yourself being pulled down, reaffirm your decision to be happy. You may not be able to change the event, but you can change your state of mind. Decide also to let go of old baggage. How long do you have to condemn yourself to carrying around old regrets and grudges? Realize, finally, that your highest duty is to love (to love others, to love life, to love the God that dwells within you).

You can make some practical changes to allow you to better deal with stress. On the physical level, make sure your diet is filled with fresh and vital foods. Poor diet, leads to poor health. Get regular exercise, but try to do it more for enjoyment. Find activities that expand your horizons — get out in nature or go to events that uplift your mind. Get sufficient sleep and rest, and try deep breathing during times of pressure. I’ll teach you some techniques for this at the end of the tape.

Environment is also vitally important. Look at your home environment to see if it helps you have a positive state of mind. Move your TV out of the center of your life to a place where it doesn’t intrude. Be careful of the music that you listen to. Music has an incredibly powerful effect on our consciousness. Think about where you are happy and relaxed. Are there plants, the sound of moving water, or beautiful colors? Try to make your home environment to reflect that kind of energy. And try to spend more time with those friends who are positive and self-contained, those who can help magnetize you into a state of being even-minded and calm.

Most important of all is that you get more in touch with your spiritual nature. Tune into your deeper essence, the joy and peace that lie within you As you claim your own higher reality, as a child of God, you will begin to see Him reflected back from everyone around you. Daily meditation is the way to find these deeper states. Especially important is a practice of meditating every morning and evening. In the morning it prepares you to face the day from a state of inner calmness and joy. At night is helps you to release everything and offer all your attachments back into the divine light.

Let’s get started with our meditation now. We will begin with a visualization, and then I’ll guide you through a meditation. After that there will be time for silent meditation, and we’ll end the session with an affirmation to help you accept and appreciate life. Source

What would be the ideal time for your yoga exercise?

Wednesday, October 27, 2010, 14: 03Yoga tips

When is the best time to exercise? Early in the morning when you first wake up? Later morning after you've started your day? During your lunch break at work?Somewhere in the early or late afternoon after a long day at work, or maybe in the evening a few hours before bedtime? Questions from different people, and you'll probably several different answers when you need to exercise for optimal results.

Each individual is unique, and as such, each person's body chemistry and inner clock is different. What works best for me, it may not work for you. In fact, what works best for you today, change in a few years.

You will perform best when your energy level high. so if you're a morning man, early in the morning can best work for you. But just because you're a night owl does not, you should not exercise in the morning. In fact, you may find that exercise asked you to a person can change that morning.

Over the years I have experimented with different exercise times and routines. When I was pregnant with my oldest son was I alternative education.During that time of my life I take a relaxing walk at the end of my day. after my second son, jogged I ran/early mornings and on the other day chose to do some afternoon aerobics while my sons napped.

I have tried other times of the day for the exercise of, and I always feel great after finishing a routine, but I have found that the best time for me the first thing in the morning. Though not, of course, an early bird, I enjoy running under the morning sunrise, and I have found that since the implementation of my daily morning routine, I am a morning person.Start my day with exercise gives me the boost I needed to make it through a hectic day with three young sons.

Not everyone, however, can be bonded out of bed first thing in the morning. You Might get up early to go to work, you must either create. the effort to get up a little earlier or time finding during a long work break or at the end of the day to squeeze in some physical activity (even if it is only 20 minutes). You can find, though, that the more time that passes, the harder it is to practice. You are tired and have so much to do and just didn't feel like taking some time for fitness.

Some enjoy practicing in the early evening, since exercise helps relieve the stress of the day and relax for the night. for others, can exercise to keep them awake at night powerful longer.(I enjoy a few relaxing stretches for sleeping, but I aerobic activity in the evening for that reason.)

So when is the best time to exercise? any time that you can do it. I recommend trying an early morning routine first if you can.lt can start your day with a positive note and other responsibilities will not prevent you from exercising.Researchers have discovered that those who exercise in the morning are more likely to stick with an exercise routine than those who postponed until later in the day.

As early in the morning doesn't work for you and you are disciplined and committed to the pursuit of a different time, then by all means, do it. the best time for you is the time when you will do and remain committed. it is not always easy to get started, but if you stay with it for some time, you will love what you see, and will be more motivated to continue. Spirituality consists almost everything

If we can understand that everything spiritual, more meaningful life. Everything is a reflection of spirit.

Some people hold a higher vibration of spirit or "God" light and some hold less.

The larger the ego, less one can contain a higher vibrations of God's light or spirit.

Less the one God's light will less his intentions.

Lower intentions vibrate at the level of FEAR.

Fear makes it impossible to see, think, Act, feel, know or something but FEAR.

Love will not make sense.

Love is a very high energy, fast moving oscillation. It is a bright light. When you have that Halo above the head of Jesus sees, search for an image of that light. we are energetic beings vibrate at the level of our own thought forms. Our thoughts arrange our vibrational frequency.

The higher the vibration around and within a human being, the higher their choices. it's automatically. it is a law of physics.Love is an interval.

So is fear.

Our thoughts create our frequency. Our thoughts create our mentality. Our thoughts arrange our mind and our experience of the "reality".

Negative or positive.

Fear or love.

What happens on this planet now and with its people is a shift in frequency is all mental.

If people don't say fear, they begin to wake up. They shift their energetic frequency. It is not a simple process ... it can even be painful physical and their mind, the brain and body let go of old patterns. It's like having your hand into a fist for a long time and when you begin to open it, it hurts when traffic comes back. Fear keeps us tight. it cuts off the movement of the higher frequencies of sprit. it cuts out of love. Fear is a soft, thick, dense, oozy energy. It cuts out higher thought and clear thinking. it cuts the capacity to see options. It cuts out the possibility to see, to speak and hear the truth.

Because it can be painful, most people choose to prevent the process. They choose to stay asleep. They choose to stagnate. They choose to do the same things over and over, because it feels easier. they may try to wake up but the minute a little pain comes as they try and stretching, go back to sleep.

Choosing love, choose to wake up, is not easy. It is contrary to what the world calls "normal." it takes courage.

Love does not exist without courage.

Love requires you to be prepared to be wrong. Growth can only come when you can be modest."Enter the Kingdom as a little child".

The Kingdom is within you. it is where you live.It is your mindset. It organises everything you do, think, see, hear, feel and know. You can see above and around what your physical world tells you.You can know the truth because you're walking in truth. walk in LOVE.

This does not mean that you LIKE what you see. This does not mean that you don't get upset. This does not mean that you are perfect.

When you walk like a light-employee, you ask, always:

What we are trying to learn from this?

What am I trying to learn?

Try to understand rather than to assess.EVERYTHING serves as our teacher.Everything is spiritual. every thing and every person is an evolutionary path. All vibrating at different rates. All strive for harmonisation. All works to vibrate to the Universal tone of love.

The world is as a result of those regions in all of us that we are still in fear. it is our task to go inside and find those places and bring them to light. As each one doing this, we add a bit more light. We increase the vibration a bit more. one at a time.

Such as energy as energy attracts. This is a universal law. it is a law of physics. it is a law of magnetism. we are electromagnetic beings. Our thoughts are electromagnetic and draw as energy.

You are responsible for your thoughts and what you are sending from. are you adding to the problem or making it better? Pollute your environment with your thoughts or help you to clean it? having good thoughts of your brothers and sisters, or are your thoughts bind them with dense energy due to lack of purity and love projected to them? people's true colors are being revealed.

No one can hide if the light on the planet increases. people are exposed for their thoughts and feelings, or another bind them, or help them free. There are laws of karma that cause and effect. what we project to others are sure to come back to us, and keep us in the density bound, or free us to experience the infinite light in.

Everything is made of the same energy. Just vibrating at different rates. We call upon the spirit of this energy. everything is spiritual. Source

The way you sit while meditating is of paramount importance

Wednesday, October 27, 2010, 14: 10Meditation

One of the most important aspects of meditation is to be able to sit comfortably while maintaining a correct meditation posture.

Your back should be straight, and body relax. you can sit in a Chair, a meditation bench, or a cushion on the floor. here are some options.
Sitting in a Chair

Are from the back of the Chair, with feet flat on the floor. If your feet can not touch the floor, get a shorter Chair or place a pillow under your feet to them. You want to your thighs are parallel to the floor.

Don't lean against the back of the Chair. This will tend to your chest. the idea is to sit upright with a spine, un-supported, and your chest expanded. However, if you are not used to this way, or if you have weak neck/back muscles or injuries, there are ways to overcome this challenge.

Getting a solid cushion and put it between your lower back and the back of the Chair. This will be the lumbar section of the spine, help to support its natural curvature. You can also place a cushion in the seat of the Chair to capture it.

Start with short meditations, gradually their time. This allows to strengthen your back muscles in the Energization exercises and time. yoga asanas can also help in strengthening your back muscles with regular practice.
Sitting on the floor

Meditation benches are a wonderful invention for the legs comfortably and keep the spine upright. you can also try sitting cross-legged on a pillow. The Crescent-shaped or round pillows are designed to help with Source this position.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal YogaThe best thing about this prenatal yoga program is that there is a model for each trimester. Instructor Shiva Rea demonstrates each of the stretches and exercises for the first trimester, and two pregnant women show modifications for the second and third trimesters (they're even dressed in different colors for easy reference). This removes the self-doubt home-exercisers often have about the safety of certain moves--especially in that cumbersome final stage of pregnancy. Using gentle voice-over instruction, Rea and her assistants take viewers through a half hour of meditational stretches using blocks and chairs for support. She follows that up with 16 minutes of floor work: lunge pose, bridge pose, child's pose, plank pose--all with the necessary adjustments. She winds things up with a four-minute guided relaxation on her back--the traditional position--with the second-trimester woman on her side and the third on her side with one leg up on a chair. By including the different adaptations, Rea has made a program with the flexibility to carry an expectant mom through her entire pregnancy--and beyond, if she wishes. --Kimberly Heinrichs

AM/PM Yoga for Beginners [VHS]

AM/PM Yoga for Beginners [VHS]This yoga set is perfect for busy people who need to work in a way to relax. On the a.m. tape, Rodney Yee takes you through a 15-minute morning yoga set, while Patricia Walden leads a 20-minute evening routine on the p.m. tape. The a.m. tape was filmed on a beach on Maui at sunrise, providing a soothing background for this gentle workout. In the morning, Rodney tells us, "the body is rested but stiff from inactivity." The stretches he demonstrates are designed to increase circulation, improve mobility, and bring clarity to your mind. The movements are easy to follow (they include a conscious relaxation, the a.m. workout, and a guided meditation), and the set is short enough that it can be squeezed into the most hectic of morning schedules. The p.m. video was filmed at sunset in Death Valley. Patricia's yoga set is designed to quiet the mind after the stress of the day and to help you make the transition from active to quiet. She uses a combination of a centering series, standing poses, forward bends, and restorative poses to help you ease into night. You will need some firm blankets to sit on and a yoga strap (although a belt or scarf will serve the same purpose) to perform these movements. Perfect for the beginner and for the overworked. --Jenny Brown

Twistin ' of the night away .... 3 rules for turned postures

Seated SkeletonImage by creepyhalloweenimages via Flickr

Revolved postures are my favorite core strengthening of poses, because they build flexibility at the same time as strength, and because they are working the entire core, not only "the yabs."Stay healthy for many more twists to come by these three rules to follow:

Your pelvis stabilization by your hips to each other to drawing: I know, my class today collectively got their faces at Scooby for this. They've used to give me the instruction to print their meeting bones or the top of the legs apart, but drawing together grown? Eyebrows are going up, snout of poses, lips wallet. no problem: the same muscles as pressing the legs apart, but constrict. Signs pelvic floor up…. Yes, this is the beginning of Mula Bhanda.Breathe, extend the spine through the lifting of the rib cage to any of the pelvis, Exhale, begin to turn from deep in the belly. The preparation of your core muscles closer to Center, pull out a side back and the other closer centerline.(You can find your diameter by drawing that all your muscles close Centre on each of the 7 successive outbreaths.)After you have enabled in your belly, begin using internal – not remotely, such as off-shoulder strength to put by means of the thoracic spine, and only then turn your head.

Revolved postures are regenerative only, and can be used to counter-pose both forward and back bends. great for digestion and releasing the lower back and hips, they make for a good night's rest. move slowly and with deep respect for your entire body and your intuition, and you will be twistin ' the night away.

The key to home practice: Desire before Duty

A little pink never hurt anyoneImage by Darwin Bell via Flickr

Committing home practice is such a transformational step that it is very easy is converted to a target, an item in the tasks list, a get by--get done: in short, a duty.

And apart from the time on your calendar or tasks list can be an effective method for keeping this promise to yourself. But how to maintain the spirit of the practice and not degenerate into goal seek?

Here's what I mean: one morning you set your alarm a bit early-20 or 30 minutes to start-triumphant because you this to yourself promise. and practice, brief though it was, converted your day was filled with moments of sunlight and inspiration.Three weeks later, the alarm goes off again, you find yourself on the same mat with sunlight streaming in, but don't like pushing yourself via the poses that you work, your claims of yesterday, and nobody to flatteringly. what a way to start the day!

What happened to that first morning of lightness and joy in practice? What happened to that blinding insight of the Bhagavad-Gita, something about releasing the fruits of that action, in your heart, but non-attachment to results?

If the "aim" to yourself on your mat every morning, you have "duty" met by arrive. Before you do something, ask yourself a question: "what I really want to?"Maybe it's more sleep. fine, take legs to the wall, or yoga nidra. maybe you're a backbend feeling. Cool, warm up with some gentle heart openers like sphinx and cobra. Or maybe you want a good laugh or cry. beautiful, that is pranayam.

You might even find that when you put it, follow your desire changes, transformations in something that priority on target, and thought.

You are what your deep, driving desire.
If your desire is, so is your will.
If you will, your deed.
If your act is, so is your DESTINY. ~ Upanishads

Grace

Landing with graceImage via Wikipedia

Grace lives somewhere between denial and dissolution.

In the land of denial tickles the truth our imagination, possibly annoying as a spring, or a fly.  But instead of becoming curious and research, we back away from the tickling and blistering by what we do, opposed to the actual experience of truth-usually to "get-things-done."

We usually go up unto the land of denial by the fear of dissolution, but years of denial can indeed lead to a large dissolution event. In rescission, we are so incredibly overpowered by the truth, that we like sugar melt into a puddle of goo, in the place where we were affected by the full power of the truth. In the land of dissolution, there is no "get-things-done" and not only the list, but the structure of our lives can lose meaning. This is scary in a way which will make the list and slaying mode can hold.

Yoga, yoga, year I wend my way between these modern manifestations of Scylla and Charybdis have helped. As an athletic, frontal life-loving, really geeky and somewhat loner kid I learned early on that "grace" was not a quality can be admired in me. I was clumsy. I was the kid with bruises on her Shins from trees climbing and jumping fences.Born with an appetite for everything, and not one to shy away from challenge (think Bull, red flag, and Yes, porcelain comes next), I have a bunch of white-knuckling and wiping away from tickles the first decades of my life. No regrets, either. I have a lot of experiences that are hard to come by and full of the nectar of life.

That life, also led me to many moments of dissolution, some transient, others completely stop stops to the hustle and bustle of life. And via the churning in the passage between the extremes that I created, I was quiet with life and easily with the silence. And in this quiet arose a voice like that of a child will be asked to say grace before the family for dinner: thin and reedy at first, the channel search and finally flows quietly back in silence.

That voice the tickling of the truth was I punched away so constantly before. I learned to laugh at the carelessness of tickling, and that lightness allowed to open space around the experience. By actually have the experience, I never had to solve. On the contrary, the experience itself dissolved in another, and often to realization and natural action.

Grace is the point of presence, pure open, creating space in the now for just "what is."Grace can be cultivated in meditation and on the mat by look, feel, diving in.Once converted, it tends to pop up in the strangest of ways.Sometimes the dawning awareness of how the body feeling, and the space for "the plan" ever so slightly to adapt.Or maybe it's the presence of intuition about when to stop or start, or when speaking or just listen. Grace comes in silence and doing that is not to do, but actively unveils the truth more eloquently than struggling and bend to our will.

I've always wanted to "all" and never accepted that this was impossible, or even that difficult I just had a different understanding of what was included in "all."Grace is just the opening at all in the moment. Grace is the Union of the opposites in which we try to split of our experience. it has a lot of swimming in the churning pool between "balls-to-the-wall" and "pee-on-the-floor" to find my way to flow: to find that "everything" is not something I do, not just a meeting of juicy experiences, because all the experiences in the world are meaningless, but for the space to drink them in. and that everything I ever wanted is here, now, for the price of a breath and a grateful and maybe just silent.

Relaxation Revolution!

Nucleosome structure.Image via Wikipedia

Revolution is a powerful word, and well applied to Dr. Herbert Benson of work. As a researcher of Harvard Medical Center, it is indeed a revolution for him to mention yoga as often as he in his progress on the relaxation Response does, more than 3 decades ago published. You can watch him in a bookstore talk here, or listen to a wonderful interview by Diane Rehm here.Latest science replaces the idea that genes influence fate. We strongly gene expression with practices such as yoga, meditation and chi gong.

You've heard of the fight or flight response of your sympathetic nervous system, and probably know that stress cortisol levels increases and harmful effects for your whole body. Dr. Benson is in favour of the opposite system native for all of us, the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the relaxation response.

Yoga can be described as a great compendium of methods for invoking the relaxation response. What Dr. Benson stresses and what is too little emphasis in our popular understanding of yoga and ourselves, is this fact: relaxation is not equal to passivity. Relaxation doesn't mean inaction. So, if you are relaxed and you are uber-sleep deprived, you will fall asleep, because that's what your body needs the most. Relaxation is a warning and effortlessly, open extension of the spirit, so that you can comment at the time what is actually incurred.

In a State of real relaxation you react on the nature of the moment, which where in that place and time. If your body-mind so tired is that what you actually need is rest, then reply will take place. In the same way as some rice is profound and deep emotion that you have is avoid crowds, that's what will emerge.A State of equilibrium that this intense surface needs to be addressed quickly and easily.Once relaxation systematically remnants of stress, injury and pain have surfaced, you will encounter a clear field, and a State more usually associated with relaxation.

For most people is this response almost immediately, because as much as most of us play the stress-monkey want, we really get the warning, openness of real relaxation cravings. Dr. Benson is stress how simple and close the experience can be. it's really a yoga practice road. What are you waiting for? your practice is as close as you breath.

The basic concept of Pranayama as described in yoga texts

Thursday, October 21, 2010, 12: 00Pranayama

Abstract: Pranayama is the science of purification, the balance and gaining control of Prana in the human system. The word Prana is a combination of two syllables, Pra and after ... Prana is the vital life force and Pranayama is the process by which the internal pranic shop is increased.Pranayama consists of the words Prana and Ayama which means "pranic capacity and length."It's not just breath control, but a technique by which the amount of Prana in the body is activated to a higher frequency.

In Prashnopanishad we can find a detailed description of varistha Prana and pancha Prana. It is the varistha Prana the oldest and the first blessing of atma, which itself is divided into five facts: Prana, Apana, Vyana, Udana and Samana that relate to the various functions of the human body. Prana shakti also manifests in six main centers or chakras that are located along the spine. Prana is the vital plasmic or bio-energy, which is universal in nature and consciousness, knowledge. Prana, the natural principle, energy and matter are called prakrati literally "activity."Every fiber of the body is connected to Prana by a complex system of nadi. the function of the nadi can be compared to that of an electric system. Pranayama is ultimately intended for the development of the quality of human consciousness, not only the mind or body.

Summary & conclusion: Prana, life force and manas, mental strength, are the two fundamental factors. Each object in the universe, from the smallest to the biggest star Atom, is composed of that energy. Prana can never be motionless. The Prana is always in motion, and the spirit is constantly changing as well. By controlling the Prana, the spirit is controlled automatically, i.e. the Prana and spirit to exercise an influence on each other.By practicing pranayama correctly, the spirit is automatically conquered. The effects of pranayama, its not so simple to manage. It creates extra heat in the body. It is some of the sleeping centres in the brain.

There are different types of pranayama yoga according to ancient texts. They are divided into two schools that Hatha yoga school and Vasinoha School of yoga. Hatha yoga school emphasizes a powerful kumbhaka. There is a risk of side-effect of practicing the kumbhaka in this school if not properly practiced under expert supervision. This most important part of the pranayama is kumbhaka or breath retention. However, in order to run successfully kumbaka, there should be a gradual development of control over the function of the breathing. Whereas, Vasinoha School writes only aware natural retention of breathing (easily) with which the spirit brings happiness. It has been pointed out that both the schools have the same benefits.
Pranayama is one of the best yogic practices for spiritual growth and therapeutic applications. By regular practice of pranayama, one can free from fatal diseases. A can slow down the aging process by reducing the metabolism by pranayama. It brings balance between the nadas and assists in the awakening of the Kundalini. Highest State of consciousness can be experienced when the Kundalini.
The technique of pranayama provides the method where the life force can be activated and arranged to go beyond the normal limits or restrictions and the achievement of higher States of consciousness.Pranayama, the most useful practice for a physical culturist. Its importance is the spiritual aspirant Supreme. Pranayama is a weapon that readily lends itself to abuse. in playing with pranayama, plays a man with his nerves, the heart and lungs.Unnecessary tension or imperfect methods in pranayama can these components be permanently damaged, so everyone in this practice with caution and care needs. When this is done and the instructions carefully and faithfully followed, is pranayama perfectly safe. Yoga brings absolute control of your Anger

Thursday, October 7, 2010, 12: 50Yoga info

Almost all of us experienced anger at some point or other. instead of getting into a monologue of why rage happens, I'll try to get rid on why we need to overcome, and how it can be done.

Why should anger be overcome?

Anger destroys the peace of mind: a constantly undergoes mental unrest, turmoil and frustration when anger is experienced. This deranged mind is akin to a rudderless ship on a stormy sea, tossed around from place to place without that can focus on the task or the destination ahead.

Anger is terrible for your health: in addition to symptoms of high blood pressure, ulceration etc., anger always accompanied by stress, which is often referred to as the silent killer. the medical community also comes around to the view that stress are the basis of about 90% of all ill-health.

Anger causes pain: in addition to hurting the person who it is aimed at (emotionally or physically), anger can boomerang causes an even deeper and more lasting self-hurt in the form of repentance and remorse. In addition, decisions of anger will invariably lead to resentment and paint you as a very selfish person.

There may be many more "incentives" to overcome of anger, but the above are enough to make you a serious shot at the approach to the problem.

Conventional remedies

General preached remedies focus on the following ways to "cure" anger:

Suppression: Quick-fix ways such as "take a deep breath to the count of 10 etc. come under this category. This offer only a temporary respite (if at all).Frankly, these methods actually undermine our intelligence. as if to say, our mind will be taken by a sort of breath control gimmick!

Expression: I was told, in Japan, there is a concept of "stress bars ' where you can share your anger, frustration and stress by throwing objects and redeem your frustration through this physical acts. these" pseudo "expressive techniques can rarely be successful, as they do not take into account the complexity of the spirit keep doing it.

Redirection: Involving yourself in an activity that you away from the source of anger is often presented as a way out. However, more likely than not the "ignored" anger will be back with a vengeance of his larger.

In fact, oppression and abuse are compared with the indiscriminate filling your grocery bag (the spirit) with objects. To some extent the fine; However, there comes a point where the bag can hold no longer and will "snap" destroy the bag completely, as well as everything around this dangerous also techniques that result in irreparable damage to your brain to be able to.

The way out

Various spiritual leaders and religions such as Buddhism, show us a way out. Significantly, yoga teachings offer similar solutions and also show how these solutions to make a part of our personality.

The first step in the management of the anger is-do not resist and do not ignore the cause of anger. experience the completely.

What do we mean? this means that one must develop an attitude of an observer or a witness.Learn to change your role of the topic to be a bystander. see how the anger works.See what it does to your mind and how. When confronted by an anger caused action, immediately get in the way of exploring and rationalisation of the:

Why am I irritated?
What kind of thought pattern is in my mind as a result of this action?
Why is it that I feel like this?
Keep going deeper and deeper with the "how" and "whys" more.

When you start to do this, start two things happens:

You begin to see the deeper 'onderbewuste ' elements that are the basis of your conscious mind forms. it is these elements that your personality shape without you even realiseren.net as the bottom of the pond in all its beauty can only see when the waters still are, also you see the root elements in your mind and their better understanding.

Once you reach these elements, solve the deepest of neuroses and complexity of the spirit. Delete automatically the cause of anger. you will be pleasantly surprised to see how you will no longer be provoked by the automatic triggers of the past.

Without fighting your anger, start training your mind to develop a witness-like attitude. this observer attitude leads to anger to evacuate.

You start to see some beautiful perspectives. you start appreciate that it is not necessarily the person's desire to hurt you-get angry is your answer. do you realize that a person the situation from his point of view the best of his intellectual and emotional capacity see-he's not quite "enough" can can appreciate your point of view. This is only natural because individuals are built in different ways. After all, aren't you similar characteristics show when you get angry!

Development of this observer's attitude is not difficult. Yoga also has some very powerful tools in the form of "antar mouna" cultivate meditation techniques that you help this attitude. Moreover, if you start picking the wonderful fruits of such an attitude, a such behavioral pattern Source only.

' Positive ' is the first step to yoga

Thursday, October 21, 2010, 11: 52Yoga info

The essence of yoga is positive in any situation that we find ourselves in.

When we are positive, we find that our interactions with the world and ourselves brighter, more productive and perpetuating the "feel good" factor. This in turn makes us healthier and more peaceful.

But how do we develop this positivism. the answer can be found in 'Attitudinal ' yoga.

According to this concept of yoga, the path to a positive attitude be found via a 3-step approach, namely
Consciousness
Accepted; and
Attitude

Let us examine these three components:

Consciousness:

The first step is aware of what and how we think. We need to be aware at all times of how our minds work – the thoughts, thought patterns and trends in training. make this a habit. If it is difficult, the meditation technique of antar mouna and Yoga Nidra methods that help us do this. These techniques help the withdrawing our senses to penetrate.

Acceptance:

Consciousness, however, brings about an increased sensitivity to the problems. We have a tendency to be judgemental and critical of us or others. This has the risk of sending us in a vicious cycle of negativity, unless we learn to accept what we see and understand.

Have an attitude that "it's ok" to think how we are.Just a witness to this fact and believe that God loves us for what we are. This acceptance leads to a real love and compassion, which are the basis of positive thinking.

For example, are you angry with your partner to something as per your wishes to do so, accept that it is natural for you faced with such emotions.Accept that the result of certain archetypes or 'samskaras ' that are embedded in your subconscious. Also accept that it is good for your partner to behave in this way, which is based on his perception and the elements embedded in his subconscious.

With practice you will find that this helps in the handedness of negativity to a large extent.

Attitude:

Once we have accepted what lies in our minds, we can actually start working on how we ' want ' to look at that particular person, situation, or thing. Yoga techniques help us changing our attitude. The 'Sankalpa ' or the determination that we in Yoga Nidra helps in shaping our minds. This determination in the yoga is always in the nature of a positive statement-such as "I am increasingly positive every day".Such imports are processed in the spirit help in shaping our attitude in one of the positivism.

Let's look at changing attitudes in the following example: suppose you have a negative attitude towards someone. so much so that he puts you in a bad mood when you see him. for a moment, only one small thing or quality in him that you want to find. now remember that a good thing when you meet or interaction with him. Gradually, you will notice that your feelings toward him and will be more positive things start to look.

After these three directives and you will find yourself becoming more positive. remember that every thought generated in the spirit also by every cell in the body is experienced. that's why on a "good" day that you feel yourself train better with more flexibility, while on a "bad" day you stiff and lethargic feel.

Finally, positive thinking affects the whole-body vibration in a positive way. This, in turn, affects the vibrations around us, which in turn influence the situations around us. This helps to relieve our suffering and leading a harmonious living. Source

Spirituality-A Materialistic Subject

In yoga, States classified in Tamasik, Rajasik and Sattvik. Accordingly, personalities are characterized by Tamas-Wikipedia, the meaning, sloth or inactivity; Rajas-activity; or Sattva-purity.

That all luck searching is a universal truth.Yoga, through the experiences and the teachings of the masters, provides a pathway for a sustainable happiness organized by desires, dislike, attachments, fears, etc..This route leads us from Tamas (ignorance, laziness) to Rajas (activity) and further to a Sattvik character (purity) for a lasting bliss.

Materialism is good in the sense that it helps to transcend from Tamas to Rajas, so let's not qualifying of materialism as anti-yoga.It is often a necessary tool for our continued journey to bliss. a person with ignorance and laziness consumed can never lucky, because unlike perception that "ignorance is bliss", in reality, an ignorant, lazy person is a prisoner of his laziness.Ignorance and laziness act as chains that actually tend to suppress free, saved.
So, it is necessary to motivate us maybe with tangible goodies ' in to lure ' us a life of productivity, activity is the first phase.

Rajas leads to the activity of the whole system, both physically and mentally, and ignites emotions. With the increasing material and sensual pursuits, rises the Rajas accordingly.

The problem arises as a result of unbridled Rajas. increased mental and physical activity creates his own tension in the spirit. If this happens, inner contradictions are aroused-stress, depression, fear, fright, sensual pleasures. This rise and fall with intervals and without control such as waves, which throw on our boat (mind-body complex). It is here that the transition from a rajasik to create a more sattvik character. Why?
Because just as an economist would say-the law of diminishing utility takes over ...

While on the one hand, we are the accumulation of material benefits for apparent physical comfort, we hope that this will help us to buy the emotional comfort. Crazy, what happens is just the opposite. The other part of our being-the spirit (in the true sense is really accompany our physical body as well as)-starts getting excited. This married life much of the material benefits and, in fact, faster than we realize, the tables are turned on.

Is wedded to materialism also makes not good "entrepreneurship". Like any business man agree would, one has to strive for more "bang for the buck".The maximum value for your wealth is when you deploy for profits untapped/unrealized. In this case the material wealth earned are the assurance that your family can protect you as you to explore the uncharted areas for obtaining of inner peace, bliss, freedom from pain-a remarkable opportunity to strive for high yields. Needless to say, this is also in perfect sound with the risk-return paradigm that a businessman thrives on.

But most importantly, such as essentially every intelligent and astute, wealth accumulation would realize after a fixed period and is only the result of an addictive behavior with no real need for it.In some cases, this is so because the person really don't know what else to do so he continues the cycle of wealth accumulation as an escapist way under the robes of the "the need for growth of the business", the need for support of family, the need for the stock of the world, the need to prove themselves, the need to be successful, the need to secure-the list is endless.A perfect intelligent and dynamic person must actually viewing the entire game of one-upmanship, competition, financial success, etc. from an elevated vantage point where he sees it as a game is played by harried rabbits, revolves around-more in the nature of compulsive behavior-with a number of imaginary victory messages when in fact there is none.Everything they end up doing is just to stay at the foot of the mountain. There is a larger, difficult climb that we all need to take with much larger gains along the way can be gotten. That is the way for an "ambitious" intelligent man.

And what is this trip? The journey to understand who we are, why are we here, what are we actually do and what should we do, how should we do it, what is by doing. This is what we mean by spirituality and when we start to do this, we get closer to the bliss. This is what all creatures eventually some search-search for answers while they are young, others when faced with burn-outs, many while on their deathbed and for the remaining, they future life (for the believers of karma) that these questions will throw up.

But despite this, of course, practical and intelligent reasons to go out to a more spiritual approach, why are we in the rut of material accumulation and sensual pleasure? quite simply, because of the grip our senses have on us. we are, in fact, slaves of our senses; we can't see it is possible that there is something beyond, much deeper and State gives us a lot more fun, so we trudge along on our "addicted", meaning dominated ways. The essential steps to mantra meditation

Wednesday, October 13, 2010, 8: 36Meditation

Although mantra has been often upset as a "religious thing" by the call to the names of the deities or gods, it is not really so. Mantra is a sound form.It is a Sanskrit word that etymologically means "by the repetition which the spirit is free from external experiences." That's how it is to be seen and experienced.

Sound has a shape; sound has a color. Each sound makes patterns of shapes and colors in the spirit. Vibrations of different frequency make different patterns. These patterns lead to withdrawal from sensory experiences. If you are going to continue further with success, they would lead to (Transient) deeper experiences such as ESP, mystical experiences and so on. Eventually they will help the genuine practitioner even surpass these inner experiences and distraction and moving on the way to eternal bliss.

Now, sound of mantra is not be seen in the context of the written word. In fact, it can sound formed by following the written word for higher experiences and be severely restricted. The nature of the mantra is that of a cosmic sound and should preferably be heard from a teacher.Mantra repetition can happen if 3 ways-audible, whisper or silent (the idea). each method has different frequencies of repetition, different shapes and different effects has the most powerful is the silent method, because it is the highest frequency. The sound Louder, more is the speed but lower frequency.

Rhythmic repetition of the mantra - the mantra should be repeated with a certain rhythm of your choice. The rhythm can be synchronized with the breath or with the pulsation in any part of the body or in any way you desire. The mantra should be repeated with each Pearl turned.

Way of recitation-as mentioned earlier, the mantra audible, as a whisper can be repeated or than silent. This depends on your mental state. If the spirit is disrupted or if you sleepy, it is best to repeat the mantra audible and then progress to whisper, and then to the Pacific thought of mantra.Beginners can also spread of audible repetition to the more powerful silent repetition.

Speed of recitation-Repeat the mantra with a speed that feels right. The slower the recitation, the greater the frequency and the power behind the mantra.Conversely, a faster repetition implies a lower frequency and force behind the mantra reduced. However, you may have to change the speed depending on the status of your mind. A dissipated and sleepy mind you may need a faster repetition of the mantra-a slower repetition may put you off to sleep!

Eyeball movement-For successful mantra meditation practice, it is important that the movement of the eye as its author was absent. Eyeball movement there is always (even when we are sleeping in the form of BRAKE), but for this exercise, it is essential that the traffic is jammed for desirable results. this movement is gradually eliminated by constant focus on your symbol on an imaginary place on the middle of the eyebrow.
Also, it often helps to proposals made by the vibration of the mantra converging in the middle of the eyebrow.

The relationship between yoga & your diet must equal

Wednesday, October 13, 2010, 8: 31Yoga info

When we talk about improving our, it should not only on physical improvement, but improvement of our personality, our whole being.

A poor man is not bad, just because of less money. He is bad because "maybe", he does not have the intelligence of how to earn; or he doesn't have a fit and healthy body; If he misses the attitude, the will and emotional balance. In such a case, the poor man to work on some or all aspects of his personality for a better life. working on just his health and intelligence is not always enough. He has the willingness, the correct emotion as well.

We all know that we have to have a balanced diet-the right balance of proteins, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. With too much or too little of each of these nutrients will lead to an imbalance in the body and the disease. Also, our personality also the correct balance of emotion, intellect and physical parts to be fed.

Yoga has several branches-Hatha or Raja Yoga for body development;Guyana Yoga for the intellect and knowledge; Bhakti Yoga for faith; Karma Yoga for action and service.

This Yoga practices must be combined for larger results. Balanced yoga will lead to a balanced personality-an integrated personality-a personality with less psychological, emotional and physical problems.

Not just one aspect of yoga must be emphasised.

Too much of Bhakti Yoga will make a person fatalistic-"this happened because of God", "I couldn't sleep because of God", the grass is green for God's sake.It brings a lack of balance.

Too much of Guyana Yoga makes a person an intellectual. He would not do anything as it's easier to just sit and think. the person starts missing in other aspects of his personality.Emphasis on Hatha Yoga you will just make also body conscious. The personality will not strong enough to emotional and mental crisis.

The correct proportion of all aspects of the yoga is essential for a balanced and healthy personality. one must practice of 70% Karma Yoga (action and service), 20% Hatha yoga (postures and Pranayama), 5% Guyana yoga (Knowledge) and 5% bhakti (Devotion) for happiness and health.

Mothers can also start advising balanced yoga together with balanced meals to their children! Source
